11/9
Will be my last day at big river books. (Hence the cutaway shot)
I have been handed a contract to do Seaside/Squeak/Smalltalk development for the University of British Columbia (Smalltalk was introduced to the world in an issue of Byte magazine with Smalltalk represented by a [link|http://st-www.cs.uiuc.edu/Graphics/bytebloon.jpg|balloon] just launched from an ivory tower on an isolated island - the balloon is heading towards the real world on the mainland) of indefinite duration and will begin working from home.
I'm looking forwards to my new non-commute and flexible work hours as I've been doing both jobs for sometime.

Congrats!
It's great to be paid for work you love.
Now all you need is satellite internet so you can do Seaside/Squeak/Smalltalk development on your way to Fiji.
:-)
Cheers, Scott.

That would be ideal
But for now I'll have to be content working on my refit from my island fortress in Puget Sound.

Great news!
Enjoy the lack of commute, and don't get sucked into playing Minesweeper too much! ;-)

All Macs - no minesweeper around
And Squeak is kind of its own game. Trick is to focus on the hacks that make money.
I'm looking forward to returning to programming in a decent environment.

Sounds ideal..
for a person with feet planted solidly on a pitching deck and, {I'm surmising here..} probably averse to spending daylight hours under fluorescent ghost-lighting, surrounded by grey screens.
Encouraging to hear that there remain some jobs like that, even involving computers.
(I always thought it a comfy myth that there were places to work, where you'd go - for free? - if you had the necessaries. Til I found out there Are.)
Hey, no need to wish luck, even.. less'n there's some sorta Repo weirdness with the Proprietors.
Cheers.
