Or that epidurals failing was not uncommon? As for the latter, I have no idea. AFAIK, a failing epidural is usually replaced by a general anaesthetic, which would be relatively routine.
As for the former, well, my wife and I are in disagreement about the state of the world at the moment, if you get my drift.

And when she comes to her senses, you can tell her she owes you fucking big-time for that.
As for her family, tell them (right away), if they *ever* pull any shit like that again, you won't have *anything* to do with them ever again, and you'll do your level best to ensure that they get to see as little as possible of *your* son, too.

She feels I owe her anyway.
I pretty upset for quite a while when I first heard.
I've been frustrating her mother for a little while now because she wants to lay into me about how I've treated her daughter, but I've stopped standing there taking it and answering back just encourages her. I've hung up on her at least once, and I've walked out of rooms several times. A few times I've informed her that her memory of events is faulty and left it at that. She has resisting accepting that I will not discuss past events with her whilst she is being combatative and certainly about things I can't change.
So I'm already having as little to do with as possible. And made it clear that it's her mother who is inflaming things.

I used to get on okay with her.
But we made the mistake of picking a place within an easy drive of her parents. Bad move. If we'd started a lot further away, then we'd have had to rely on them less and we would have had to solve things without our parents. Which isn't really solving things. So issues that a couple should normally take a few years to sort out stayed unsorted out until she couldn't take it anymore. Her mother is, not surprisingly, siding with her daughter over things.
