Damn, I'll be so close, but so far.
Lovely pics of a lovely area. And to think I'll be visiting the UK in a few weeks, and that's the kind of place I'd really love to visit... alas it's a work trip, meaning I have to be grateful that I do actually get one free day in London. But that's all.
It's going to be really, really hard to get back on that plane knowing I'll only have seen < 1% of what I want to see when I'm there :( But on the plus side, OMGWTFBBQ!!11ELEVEN!!, I'm going to London! Woot! Ahem. It's a business trip. Gotta be serious.
It also means I can't go to BeepBash this year as I'll be spending that particular 24 hours in an aeroplane. Maybe next year!

Not true!
A twelve month wait is a lot less than the more usual 'til Hell freezes over' :-)

See about making a "connection" in Newark!
"Friggin' Customs! Made me miss my connecting flight to Cannbera. Darn! Blast! Phooey! What?...Next flight isn't 'til tomorrow afternoon?!? Crikey! Now I'll have to find someplace to spend the night! Fudge! Crumb!..."

I ask you this, does that not also logically mean that 68% approve of the job he's not doing? Think about it. I haven't." — Stephen Colbert, at the White House Correspondent's Dinner 29Apr06

Heh, if only! :)
Mind you, if I ended up in Canberra, it'd be a three hour drive home! But as luck would have it I'm about 10 minutes drive away from [link|http://www.sydneyairport.com.au|Sydney Airport].
I'll try (again) for next year.

Re: Ooh, multimap is neato
Ar, tis ever so clever.
I particularly like the way it's the only map site to use Ordnance Survey maps at appropriate scales. The 1:25000 maps are particularly interesting.
That said, I find maps fascinating and can pore over them for hours.

It doesn't cover the US as well.
:-(
E.g. Multimap's interface does have some nice features though. Thanks for the linky.

Bruce Trail goes through the Temagami region
though it's definitely not near Cold Fuckin' Ethyl up there.
I'd be more partial to hiking and canoeing the Lady Evelyn, though. Mind you, it's not a canoe trip for amateurs; some of the portages are pretty tough and it'll take ten days: lest we forget, you need to carry all your food etc in with you. OTOH, there's nothing quite like waking up with the sun on a still morning watching the mist rise off the mirror-smooth surface of the lake.

I was there about 40 years ago. I still remember it vividly.
There was a YMCA camp and I went up 2 years in a row. The second year I was in an advanced group consisting of 6 teenagers and 2 councilors. We spent the first night at the Y camp and left the next morning on an extended canoe trip. We got back 2 weeks later about 2 hours before the bus left for home. It was fantastic.
edit; it was 40 not 30. Time flies when you're having fun...
