I see H1s all over the place here. Face it, guys who can afford to fly a P51 or a Jug on weekends have no problem financing an H1 to drive to the airport in. I think GMs problem is simply that everyone who qualifies here already has one.
If California instituted a ban on cars costing over $40,000 Jaguar, Daimler Benz, Porche and BMW (BMW, Cooper Mini, Land/Range Rover) would file Chapter 11 in two weeks. Ferrari and Maseratti would surely be hurting but might survive 'cause you just don't see that many of them here.
For whatever reason, Rolls and Bentleys, swarming here 20 years ago, are rarely seen now. Too Fuddy-duddy I guess.
Of course the highest concentration of exotic cars I have ever seen was in Salt Lake City in the early '60s. Every hick with some bucks wanted to show off to the hicks and imported some sort of high performance vehicle from California.
