Proceeds to finance the network connection, natch.

Would rather make voluntary donations...
...As I've done in the past.
I seem to recall that a6l6e6x has scheduled August 1 as the annual Reminder-to-donate-to-iwt day (a la his birthday announcements.) My date could be off, but that's not the point of this post.

Agreed.

Indeed, August 1 is IWT "Z" day!
[link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=216911|Declaration].
Google ads wouldn't bother me much. I manage to ignore the great majority of ads that don't pop-up.
But, in full disclosure, I own a few Google shares.

Has Greg posted his USPS address here?
If so, I could use a link to it so I can send a check his way. If not, I hope that he'll email me his address so I can support him (doing my best Bill Murray imitation from "Caddyshack") "ya know, fer the effort!"
(But don't expect a biggie check from a guy who's been out of work 2 years in the past 5).

"Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from." -- E.L. Doctorow

Does "here" include the twiki?
If the twiki gets significant traffic, Google Ads there might make sense too. As long as others are OK with it, of course.

True
The SCO page spent a couple of weeks in the top spot or two when searching for just "SCO". Until Groklaw came online, I think we were still in the top 10.
[goes and checks ... ]
Well shit! Top three are sco.com, groklaw.net and sco.iwethey.org.
And yes, I'm cool with google ads, too.

That is a tight line to walk.
I am opposed to "logged in ads" seeing as there are only 200 or so active users.
NOT-logged in. Well that seems to be pretty attractive.
But then again, logged in ads are fine if the intrusion is minimal.
But then the LRPD saying "No ads" will either have to go or be modified
