First paycheck!
Woo hoo! The boss got back from Cali, Columbia (didn't bring any goodies ha ha) He was very pleased with how I handled things while he was gone. I actually had fun today! Guess this gig is gonna work out after all.

Time to ask for a raise.
And perhaps a company car. That may be pushing it though.

But remember that titles are cheap. Now about that promotion... :-)

What do you really do?
As Ben says, titles are cheap. Are you really responsible for marketing strategy? Who do you direct? Are you telling your boss what to spend money on and what he should say in PR? How much can you spend without authorization?

What i do
I have created a marketing plan and asked for a budget. I have been contacting various media to compare pricing and then will choose the best deals for advertising. I also have to submit everything I do to Compliance at the home office in St. Petersburg.
I'm also planning a postcard campaign. I will send out about 15 at a time and then my boss will follow up with phonecalls. He calls it "Smilin' and Dialin'".
If I get him new accounts, I get bonuses. So, wish me luck!

If it's the new account that get's you the bonus
and not the activity on the account, then if I create an account that I never use...
But I suppose in the long run, you'd get canned for creating to many dead/useless accounts. Oh well, it was a thought.

Yay!!!
Makes it all seem worth the trouble, doesnt it?
I finally got my first decent paycheck from the clinic- it's taken this long to get a solid caseload built up. My stress level is going down a little- first time since August! The disaster response company I work for (right now only 10 hrs/wk) has a bid in to do the trauma services for another major international airline. If we get this contract I'll get my full-time position back, if I want it. Not sure what I'm going to do. I've busted my ass to build up a practice. It will be hard to walk away from that. On the other hand, it hasnt been as lucrative as I hoped. But do I want to deal with mass casualty disasters on a full-time basis? I dont know. Guess I'll figure it out if/when it happens. I'll know by the end of the month.

Have been
It's been rough. I'm pulled in too many different directions at once. In order to make good money at the clinic, I need to open all 40 hours per week up to seeing clients. I dont get paid for no-shows- most of my clients are state-funded and it's not allowed. With a caseload of resistant, court-ordered subtances abusers, my no-show rate can be as high as 50% some weeks. That's a lot of billable hours down the drain. I need to overschedule to cover the no-shows, but I cant do that because my opens hours are spent working for the disaster response company. And if we do get the new contract, he's gonna need someone there full-time. Our company is a 2 man show- him and me. If I go back with him full time I get to work from home again- which is a great help, but it's not so great in terms of the social isolation.
But again, I dont even know if we'll get the contract so I may be getting my panties in a bunch over nothing. Just gotta wait and see, I guess.

Why can't it ever be easier? I hope that the perfect set-up presents itself for you.
Things seem to be settling in, however, I'm getting over a nasty stomach virus that has been nagging me since last Wednesday. I though I was gonna die! The worst is over now. It's good to be alive!

Planeride to Neverland, tickets for 2!
I know what you mean. Sometimes being a grown up really sucks. Then you get a gift, like your oldest child doing something nice for his siblings. Miracles do happen.
Sending good thoughts your way. Keep looking up!
