In one day we pass straight from the "missing the un-missable deadline" phase straight to the "designating the scapegoats" phase. Will be back with some details after I update the resume.

We have a position open
found out about it this past week. We code in VB 6.0 and in Oracle using PL/SQL. We're looking to change our platform, but haven't made a decision yet as to what it'll be. Darrell . Spice @ flextronics . com Cost of living in Houston is excellent. From [link|http://www.bcm.edu/gradschool/?PMID=2893|Baylor College of Medicine]: * No state or local income taxes * Cost-of-living is 24% below the average of cities with more than 2 million* * Cost of housing is 45% below the average of cities with more than 2 million* * Houston has the lowest housing costs and grocery prices among the 30 large metro areas in the U.S.* * Among the metro areas, Houston's utility costs are 9% below average, transportation costs are 10% below average, health care costs are 8% below average, and costs for miscellaneous goods and services are 12% below the average

That sucks. I know what it's like
If you have emails that document your position over the course of the project, burn them onto a cd and get them off site soonest. If you have ammo, others will look like better targets. Doesn't always work, but sometimes does. Good luck and don't show fear.

Hmm, okay then
Well, I've always believed you should never commit to email anything you wouldn't want to become public, so I'm not too concerned.
[edit] I just ego-surfed. Without the subject line, that doesn't show up on the first three pages, so I think I'm good. In fact since Google placement is influence more by inbound links than anything else, your post probably boosted the pagerank quite a bit.

No, sort of, and sort of
Postgres copies as much of Oracle syntax as they can, and Linux is mostly Unix, but I'm not looking to be a developer any more. But I'll go read the other post anyway.
