Welcome to IWETHEY!

New It would be mildly interesting
to know how frequently they did it:
  1. Outside of wartime
  2. in previous administrations
  3. in the Neocon Government prior to 9/11
  4. in the Neocon Government now

Of course, 3&4 will never truly be known, as they would be covered by the National Security Blanket, with which the Neocons try to shroud everything. I say never, as we are engaged in a perpetual war against a strategy and a philosophy (not to be confused with our 'war against government-unapproved capitalism [drugs]', our 'war against illiteracy', our 'war against poverty'* , or the Religious Right's war on science).

*clue to Neocons - a war on poverty does not mean you crush the impoverished

shrub●bish (Am., from shrub + rubbish, after the derisive name for America's 43 president; 2003) n. 1. a form of nonsensical political doubletalk wherein the speaker attempts to defend the indefensible by lying, obfuscation, or otherwise misstating the facts; GIBBERISH. 2. any of a collection of utterances from America's putative 43rd president. cf. BULLSHIT

New Point given above
don't be surprised by the power of Customs. If it crosses the border, it safe to assume it isn't private. Doesn't make it any better but it certainly isn't anything new.

Your stats would be interesting to see, though. These guys could very well be worse than any other admin...but seeing as how they've had to deal with more than any other admin (internal terror and the anthrax mailing list) they are likely to get a large pass from a large section of the population.

New Re: Anthrax
Unibomber, etc. - that was all internal mail, nothing to do with Customs.

And the anthrax thing was very suspicious, IMO. Either we WASTED boatloads of money developing it as a bio-weapon of dubious utility, or it wasn't meant to kill many. I do NOT put it past the Neocon Junta to do it themselves, in order to whip the people into a war-time frenzy in short order.
