Post #235,916 by imqwerky 11/24/05 6:10:55 PM Reply	/me raises hand I was merely suggesting that "DreamGirl" was pushing Don's buttons for a certain response and on more that one occasion, she kept getting the overprotective response of "I've known strippers, it's not a good life, yada yada yada..." From my perspective, she knows that strikes a nerve with Don and for some reason likes to keep hammering that point. Since they have only been out a couple of times, it is not Don's place to tell her what she should or should not do. I think she is playing head games. So, Don has many choices. 1)He can completely stop seeing her. 2)He can continue to see her and continue to play this head game. 3) He can continue to see her but call her on her continual discussion of that subject (direct confrontation) And finally, 4) Continue to see her, but be more subtle when it comes to that subject (redirect the conversation or deflect all responsibility to her). Don, considering that you have feelings for her, I don't want to see you throw the baby out with the bath water. Don't be afraid to face the real issue. I think she is worried about being controlled. It is so early in your relationship that this episode can be a learning experience for you both. Don't be afraid to risk a little. You might be surprised at the result. Good luck and think positive. Her thinking on the whole stripper angle, as she explained it, is something like; I keep getting treated as if my good looks are the only good quality I have. Promotions at work etc. go to the guys. If my looks are getting in the way at my chosen profession, maybe I should get a stripper job where they won't get in the way. Once I can make enough money, I'll move to LA where my looks won't get in the way and I can go back to being an architect. I don't think this is good. I've told her that. She doesn't agree. Nuff said. We'll stay drinking buddies and she has a shoulder to cry on when she needs it but I'm taking any romance off the table. ----------------------------------------- No new taxes. --George H. I have been in that position before. I gave the best advice in the world, but it went in one ear and out the other. It's very frustrating when someone won't listen. And do you work with her closely, ie: do you see examples of people less qualified than her being promoted / given breaks, that she doesn't? Because I have seen the opposite, up to a point. Really good looking women being given many opportunities that the average guy would not, even in the event of repeated screwups. It makes sense, from a horny guy perpective wanting them around. But eventually they Peter principle out, while having incredible expectations of how much more they "deserve". Which in turn leads to some serious bitterness and delusions of competentcy. So I was wondering if you have 1st hand evidence of this treatment and what your judgement of it is.
