Some people don't change.
I had a friend who had a gorgeous, fun, intelligent girlfriend. He met her at a party. She was one of those girls who grabs your attention and won't let go. She was dating someone at the time, but was flirting with him and he eventually won her over.
They dated for a couple of years, I think, and they got engaged. They were a great couple, but she continued to have an overly flirty personality. Everyone lit up when she was around, but she always made me nervous because she was too friendly and too flirty and too direct in her glances.
They eventually broke up. You see, she couldn't restrict herself to a monogamous relationship.
All the signs were there from the beginning, and he had many good times with her, but their relationship was doomed because their expectations didn't match. She wasn't willing to give up having sex with other people and he wasn't willing to share her even though he loved her dearly.
He was devastated.
I think Silverlock sees what's coming and sees that it'll end in tears. I don't think that his view is off-base. I don't think I could enjoy a couple of weeks of "fun" with someone like that either. I don't think it's a "fragile heart" situation either - it's learning from previous experience. It's like [link|http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060539097/102-9949840-2206504?v=glance&n=283155&v=glance|watching a train wreck in slow motion]. :-(
My $0.02.
Cheers,
Scott.
