New sheesh
there are reasons lamps have shades...
Have fun,
Carl Forde
New Sheesh, it does have a shade
It also has a bulb too big for the recommended wattage and the bulb stick out a wee bit over the top of the shade.

My office is in the basement. I need a lot of light to give the illusion that day light is reaching me. It helps me function. Why dont I get a bigger lamp to accomodate a brighter bulb, you ask? Because the one I have is so *pretty*.

Sheessh... ;-)

New Re: bigger lamp
One alternative is to replace the incandescent bulb with the more efficient screw-in type [link|http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=cfls.pr_cfls|compact fluorescent]. They generally use less than a quarter of the power for a given amount of light. They're expensive but pay for themselves in saved power.

And they don't burn you as badly! :)
