ie, the prawn cocktail, or the little dish of breef strognoff, or the calamari. You know, an entree, not the main course. Which is usually called the main course :)
As for cars, we call a Hood the Bonnet, and the trunk is the Boot. Which has only just made me think that all these cars wearing bonnets and boots sounds quite ... dainty.
Recently when I went to see They Might Be Giants they were complaining that Australians seemed to have a different word for everything. They were surprised when we said Letterbox means the same thing in both languages. "What, you don't mean you've got some weird variation... like Post Stump?" they asked. :-)
