Welcome to IWETHEY!

New I'm loosing my job in 6 weeks
Just found out. Company is too small, we lost an account. He cant afford to keep me on. I'm numb. He was crying, I was crying. Things get personal when you work for your best pal. How am I gonna hold this all together? Once I get over the shock, I'll pull together my resources and move forward. Right now I'm scared to death. There's no one else to fall back on. Just me.
New Jumpin Jaysus, get a resume and let us know :-(
Just call me Mr. Lynch \\

New Ohh, I know you will, *darlin'*
Well then, how are we going to spend our time together? Instead, you'll have to sit around and watch me consume massive amounts of alcohol. If you're lucky, I might even start singing. NOBODDDYYY KNOWS THE TROUBBBLE I'VE SEEEEENNNN...

Fasten your seat belt. Clench your bottom. It's going to be a bumpy ride!

(ummm, what about the 2nd date?)

BTW, I'll float you some cash on the 6th for the IWT cause.
New Where's your resume?
New Have to update it.
Where should it be?
New Depends

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?
- Mark Renton, Trainspotting.

[...]

Mr. Gaidano says that hard drives are so unreliable that they "should not exist today." Yet they are ubiquitous - in laptops that are tossed onto airport security belts, and on iPods and camcorders used while jogging and maneuvering around moguls. When they fail, panic is often the reflex. Many call Mr. Johnson's company, or ActionFront, DriveSavers and ESS Data Recovery, fearing that their most crucial records and most cherished memories have just been incinerated.

DriveSavers employs Kelly Chessen, a former suicide-prevention counselor, to calm distraught customers.

"You get nervousness, anger, crying," Ms. Chessen said. "People fear they'll lose their jobs" if the data is not recovered. And at times they say that life will no longer be worth living. "I ask them if they're really thinking about committing suicide," she said. Fortunately, no one has.

Luck!

Cheers,
Scott.
New Dam, dat sucks.
Chill, we have a "Great Resume Review Process" here.

We have it because we have all been in your predicament in one form or another in the last few years.

If worse comes to worse, I can setup something as a personal website or some such iffn you want/need it. Or you can just use Comcast's personal web stuff, or both.

Post a "Cut-N-Paste" of the text from your Resume or if you know how to create a PDF and put it somewhere that is available to us to view.

Iffn you need help, you know whom to ask. Most of us will help out if the need arises.

New Look on the bright side:
1. You got six weeks more notice than most people.
2. You probably qualify for some form of unemployment insurance, adding another three months of funds, albeit not worth quite as much as an actual paycheck.

Seriously, sorry to hear it, and keep your chin up!

New Lucky gits.
New AND.......
Emma just punched Mitchell in the privates and he is rolling around on the floor with an ice pack and she is being severly punished. How long does that kind of pain last? Is it too early to start drinking? I need a break. Dropping the kids off at my mother's and hitting Starbucks to get my shit together.
New Depends.
Many things control that pain.

Sometimes it is a few minutes. Other times it takes a half hour.

New Thank you, everyone
What a great bunch of guys (and assorted gals) you are!

Have you ever seen that Starbucks commercial where this guy Hank is going about his day and there is a set of people in bleachers along with him cheering "HANK!" to the music?

Ba da-da dum___dum "HANK!" ba da-da dum..

You guys make me feel like Hank.

It's very, very nice.

If you were within arms reach I'd hug y'all.

stay cool and be flexible. just cause you've been employed in one type of job doesn't mean that should be your next job. You know what you have done; the question is, what will you do next? Opportunity often comes disguised as inconvenience. Watch for that.

New Well, this is certainly going to change the direction . . .
. . of your life. Hope it goes in the right direction for you, but even if it doesn't you'll have great stories to tell when the kids visit you at the asylum.

Anyway, very best of luck from here in SoCal where jobs have always been temporary (at best). Damn, I still wonder where all those aerospace engineers went - are they up there in Michigan now?

New Yeah, working at Smith's Industries.

Oh yeah. They have a ton of job openings. Mainly because they want 45 years of experience and a Doctorate paying $19K/year.

Well, okay, so maybe its only 20 years, but still maybe $21K/year.

Yeah, this is one fscked up company. Even procurement has been hit hard in this company, they have been forced to use "regular" Toilet Paper versus the Velvet stuff.

New Sucks just as bad either way you spell it... Or does it?
Maybe that wasn't a typo, maybe it was a hint from your sub-conscious: Look at it not as "losing" [sic] something, but as "loosing" it -- as in releasing it, setting it free. (Or rather, *it* setting *you* free.)

Yeah, I know, not much of a comfort... So sorry, but that's the best I can do, from way over here. :-(

(I mean, I'm good with kids, and I've got a spot of vacation coming up, so I could look after yours for you for a while -- but could you afford to ship 'em here? Me neither! So commiseration -- and attempts at encouragement -- it is, for now. ;^)

I'm a little confused though, are you losing both jobs, or will you still have the part-time one? Which job are you losing, the biochemist one or the Employee Assistance one?

I'm not very good at helping people find jobs, but these guys are. :)
