Are you sure about that?
What I'm asking is, who's trying to publicise it, and why? After all, a lot of people are going "see, see, this is the slippery slope started by Schiavo", when what's really going on is (perhaps) incompetent administration not bothering to check bona fides before taking action... I think the real danger is the situation where the hospital (or other health institution) can use someone like the granddaughter as an excuse to cut costs without having to cut billing, leading to less than due diligence on their spadework on the actual power to make decisions.
To wit: you can't accuse the judgement in the Schiavo case to cover a situation where someone is lying about PoA etc and the doctor and institution don't bother doing even the most rudimentary followup to find out if this is in fact the case.
So, who is trying to publicise this, and why?
