It is no different than raising a pig/cow/sheep/chicken/turkey/<insert meat animal made from meat> for slaughter.
He has only done one thing different, the appearance that he "loves" this bunny. I am sure he loves this rabbit... but for the taste of the flesh. So far, he *IS* just stating fact, that unless he gets the $50K he will eat this rabbit he has raised for slaughter. If he gets the $50K he will then probably purchase a alternative rabbit pre-slaughtered, but probably raised in horrible conditions.
Think about it, once you get over your repulsion. He OWNS this rabbit, his intention is to raise it for slaughter. Does that remind you of the "4H" clubs across America? And the "First of Class" gets "First to slaughter" and "First to the pot".
Nope, false dichotomy, the ideas that this is horrid, vs the reality of the situation being "Normal" aka "Tasty"

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]
