Yes, it uses the same frequency band.

Try to get an old 900 MHz if you can still find one. (Mainly because they're cheap.)

Otherwise look for a 5.x GHz phone

We ended up doing this in my apartment, where I have 802.11g.

You use DSL. I've gotten warnings about that and possible interference from 900mhz phones before....

Haven't heard that.

I have DSL, connected to my Airport Extreme base station, which acts as a NAT/DHCP/Wireless bridge box for my home LAN. We used to have a 900 MHz phone and didn't have a problem. (Doesn't mean that said problems don't exist, though.)

I agree with an earlier suggestion to get a switch, though. I was having problems (low data rates) using a hub on the wired segment of the network and when I replaced it with a switch, I got significant improvement. Besides, switches are getting really cheap these days.
