New WAP
You want a Wireless Access Point. I'd plug it in your hub, actually I'd upgrade the hub to a switch, then plug it in there. ;-) Set up 128bit WEP on the access point and clients, and change the key about once a week. Running on the orange interface of the smoothwall will offer a little protection to the rest of your LAN should someone crack your key, but won't help the wireless LAN itself at all. A good way to secure wireless traffic is to setup and use a VPN to connect to the LAN.

New Well, it's intelligent hub
so I do get 100 Mb for each pair. I'll survive w/o switch for now.

Yes, I was actually thinking about protecting wired from wireless, not protecting wireless itself. Th emachines that go on wireless will be the work laptop (I don't care about it, MIS is supposed to keep it secure (yeah, right) and may be a pure browser machine later on - no data there at all.

And what are we doing when the two most powerful nations on earth -- America and Israel -- stomp on the elementary rights of human beings?

Major Allison Digby Tatham-Warter was so absurdly British that you can't even read his name without being compelled to brew a cup of tea.
