New It's awfully slow in officially granting credits, isn't it?
I've got 720.01 pending...

Cheers,
Scott.
New Not just me, then :-)
Also, damn you and the dual G5 dream machine you rode in on.

My 3GHz P4 has stacked up a feeble 300 pending credits.

New It's not the screamer I was expecting it to be.

Number of CPUs\t2
Operating System\tDarwin 7.8.0
Memory\t512 MB

[link|http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=3795|caveman's] Athlon 64 3000+:

CPU type\tAuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+

Measured integer speed\t5466.79 million ops/sec
Average upload rate\t9.63 KB/sec
Average download rate\t5851.06 KB/sec

The single CPU Athlon64 3000+ has substantially better float and interger performance than the Dual G5 on this benchmark. Hmmm.

I don't have any "average turn around" numbers yet.

Cheers,
Scott.

New You seem to have the ubermachine on the team. But SMP helps.
22,213.80 s CPU for a work unit. My best (on the dual 2.0 GHz G5) is ~ 28,712.75 s. Your AMD Athlon64 3000+ seems to be quite speedy even though it only has 512 MB of RAM. Can you tell us more about it? 939 pins? Which motherboard and chipset? Are you overclocking it? Etc.

We're up to #318 now. :-)

Thanks.

[edit:] I just noticed that the G5 is routinely doing 5-6 work units a day while your A64 is doing 2-4. So it seems that the BOINC client is using both the CPUs on the G5. SMP baby!

MUST .. HAVE .. MORE .. PROCESSORS!

Cheers,
Scott.

New Keeps stalling on me
When I start it, I see the process monitor pinned at 100% -- 94% nice. I leave it overnight, or while I'm at work, next time I check I still see it running with ps, but the processor is doing nada. I can stop and start the client, but then I have to go merge the multiple machines it thinks I have again.

New Will look up the machine details when I get home.
I had it built to a price*, not to a performance spec, so it's nothing that special. Yes, I had it built for me - am getting lazy in my old age :)

Maybe my results-per-day is a bit low as I was initially switching it off when I went to work. But it's been running continuously a few days now, never mind the electricity bill, greenhouse gases, etc, etc..

I can confirm that I haven't overclocked it though, it's running as standard.

John.

* Hence the 512MB RAM.
