Debian is far more than you know, far more than you can conceive.
You talk of a Hobbyist Distro? that'd be Gentoo.
You talk about vendor support? Who cares. But since you seem to care, I have Blazing New Hardware, with Very "developed for Windows" hardware.
I run Debian, with the Linux Kernel. Same as every other Distro. I have full support for nearly anything you can throw at Debian. It would be the same for your precious SuSE. Err Novell Linux...
Impenetrable barrier? no... enlightenment makes all the difference, letting the pain happen until it registers. Then help them out of the pain.
All that really matters is the damn binary format if you want to be real? Wow, I seem to be under the impression that Debian supplies Binary. And also includes all sources too. So, what is exactly the difference? Debian requires all software in the Main archive to be "Free" GPL qualifies but so do about 10 other licenses... including things such as Yast would be easy enough to do, if Yast would really support apt packages.
Debian doesn't have a fucking chance in the corporate world!
Another blanket statement. Not even what Debian is all about Ross. Debian Isn't COMMERCIAL, it isn't steered by Companies (like Fedora Core), it isn't FOR profit.
You don't understand anything. Linuc in general is beyond you. You fail to comprehend the real differences.
Go away.
