Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Not this crap again.
Again with the freakin drones.

What the hell good is flying over him taking pictures? The things were being retrofitted with Hellfire missiles so we could shoot the bastard!!!

Lost me at point one. Won't read further.

New Nahnahnah. I ... cant .. hear ... you
If you had read on, you would have seen that they brought that up.

Chris Altmann
New Same BS.
Can't walk and chew gum.

Tested an (singular). Successful (yeah!!!). Now need to retrofit ALL.

When have you known armed forces to react at speed.

Had this argument here, with timeline to support the fact that, even if who got to play with the joystick had been resolved that these Predators would not realistically have been back in theater until Sept/Oct 2001.

Of course, the previous administration could have armed them. They seemed content to take pictures. If they'd have armed them we may very well not have been having this conversation...nor would we have watched >video< on CNN of Laden meetings in Afghanistan, except maybe the kind with crosshairs and a big BOOM at the end.

The rest of the points use other >testimony< as FACT to dispute Rice's testimony. By those same rules, her testimony would have be fact that cannot be disputed.

New The point in this case is valid
The first point raised in the first article is just pointing out that Rice's claim that the Bush White House continued Clinton's anti-terrorism activities is false. At least some of Clinton's anti-terrorism programs where curtailed or stopped.

And while I agree that the predator drone thing has been blown out of proportion, the way it is raised in this article is correct. Rice claimed that the administration moved quickly on this issue, when in fact it was delayed by wrangling over who was responsible.

Jay
New No they didn't.
That's the point. They weren't flying (since before he took office) and they were being retrofitted to shoot Hellfire Missiles. Yes, there was a successful test of that system completed in May 2001. At that point, all others were to be retrofitted. Are you of like mind to one of our illustrious former members to think that the military could build out, design and test a system in 6 months and then magically deplay it to the field in less than 3???

Come on now. Reality is over here somewhere.

If you want to look at what Rice and the Administration have stated, it fits perfectly into the strategy that they say they had of no longer "swatting flys" but instead outfitting the intelligence community with tools that could actually shoot.

Spin.
