Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Unsure...
...There's some kinda word going around (ask Peter) about some problems with exim4 and SpamAssassin integration, but I'm not up on the details thereof. I've got work to do and such.

Meanwhile, I run exim4 at home as my only MTA. The *BIG* change that I noticed from exim (version 3.x) to exim4 is that instead of one huge-ass monolithic config file, there's a whole directory tree of smaller, more-easily-managed configs. This is a GOOD thing, as the exim3-style exim.conf was a fucking beast, and that's putting it nicely.

New Exim4 metaconfig
What's in /etc/exim4 is a Debianism.

The actual config is generated by the update-exim4.conf script which parses the /etc/exim4/ tree and places the resultant monolithic config file in /var/lib/exim4/config.autogenerated. The init scripts execute the exim4 daemon, specifying this config file.

This is a good thing - just don't automatically expect to see it on other distributions or operating systems.

For Thane: Exim3 is no longer maintained; critical security bugs will be fixed, but the current version of Exim is 4.

New I prefer it this way...
I have taken this piece and moved it into an RPM I made for Redhat 7.2+

It is absolutely the single most brilliant config break down I have seen yet of nearly any package.

Apache 1.3.29 in Sid appears to be being done the same way.

Awesome.
