Almost there! Please Help!
I went here:
[link|http://www-124.ibm.com/developerworks/downloads/detail.php?group_id=108&what=file&id=1133|http://www-124.ibm.c...what=file&id=1133]
and downloaded that file. I was able to unzip it, then untar it. I tried this command from a normal OS/400 prompt:
call qp2term (un-tar <filename>, install)
but it wouldn't execute. I was able to qsh and tar xvf the file, but the foo that's in that file I'm at a loss about. Is there some additional step I need to take to install it? Or is ssh <site> not the correct syntax for this port?
This will save me a ton of work if I can get it going. Thanks a million.

Late response....
....sorry for the delayed reply. My daughter is undergoing surgery at Mayo. Not much online time these days.
I did not grab the binary from the developerworks site, but rather the AIX port off the OpenSSH site. I did:
call qp2term tar -xvf <file>.tar config make make install qsh; execute
One issue I have seen with qp2term is missing symbolic links for the qp2term environment. Not sure about the failure to execute message your are getting, but likely a link issue.
What is the exact error?
Works well on this end, but I did have to create some links in qp2term first.

P.S. Check to make sure you have the Portable Solutions Application Environment (PASE) LPP loaded. If "call qp2term" does not work, you may need to load PASE first. This is a no fee LPP that provides an AIX runtime on the iSeries.

Don't mention it.
And please don't spend any more time on this. Take care of your daughter. While I greatly appreciate all your help, I cannot help but feel extremely guilty knowing I took even a few seconds of your time while your daughter is having surgery. My thoughts are with you and your daughter. If you can post back some time, please let us know how she is doing (computer stuff is irrelevant by comparison).

update...
The surgery went well and she is resting. She may need one more surgery before its over though. We'll know by January.
Did you get SSH working? It sounds like you might need to load PASE.

Glad to hear it went well.
I'll keep her and you in my thoughts and prayers. As a dad, I can't imagine a more stressful time than having one of our wee ones (no matter his/her age) being ill. Hang in there.
Thank you so much for helping me out with this. I haven't gotten SSH to run yet. I've not given up, but management is directing me in another way. So, I'll have to try to skunkworks this through the back door. It would be the best solution, but, well, I'm sure you're familiar with office politics.
I'll ping back after I have a chance to try it and let you know if it worked.
Thanks again!

Ouch.
Disclaimer: waste no time reading this message << :-\ufffd
All best what-if?s to the little sweetie. At least.. those folks at Mayo\ufffd have one heady Rep to keep up with; tends, I believe to keep the MDs paying much more attention to the work (than, say "timing the procedure" for the golf betting pool).
'Least I hope that proves true, for you both!
