Something else to try
[link|http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/tn5250/asdbget/|asdbget] A utility for retreiving AS/400 physical files (databases) from an AS/400 via FTP. Queries the AS/400 for the structure using an AS/400 FTP extensions and produces an ASCII, XML file which can be easily processed with a number of utilties. The project has been merged into tn5250.

Thanks, but that's the wrong direction.
We want the as/400 to ssh into the Linux box and run a couple of shell scripts.
Any ideas?

Try the authors
[link|http://cronosys.com|Guys] I used to work with. They've got an AS/400 guy, and the Linux guy who wrote the bit I linked above. They might have some ideas.

drewk, Please Read.
I sent them a mail and a Tony Felice responded. He wants me to let him know who recommended them to me and I wanted to check with you before I passed your name out. If it's okay, I'll tell him. But, I don't know your full name. ;-)

No problem
It's Drew Kime.
I even recommended them for an installation here a while back, but they went with someone we had already worked with. So it shouldn't come as a complete shock that I'd still be pointing people to them.
Besides, you had a question, I thought they could answer it. It would be pretty childish for me to not pass the info along just because they had to let me go when a project wrapped up. Speaking of which, were they nable to help?

Not yet.
But they're trying. The response so far was "I'll look into it. It shouldn't be too hard to port OpenSSH to OS/400." ;-)
And, THANKS AGAIN!

Ahh, the impertinence of youth
If it were really that easy, wouldn't someone have likely done it already? But hey, if they think they can ...

If there was demand ;0)
Which, going forward, I suspect there will be. I mean, if the OS/400 continues to "not play well with others" it would be a bad thing for the platform, imho.
