Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Back home now.
One word description of ~32 (including stops) hours of driving over 6 days: GAH.

My impression of New York State (until you reach about Albany or so): just like Michigan, Ohio, etc. Massachusetts is quite hilly, much more so than I expected.

Boston is a nice town. Old and stately looking, as opposed to old and tawdry like Detroit. The new bridge is impressive, but we didn't get into the tunnel.

Had a great time talking with Drew, and it looks like I'm on for the 4th for sure.
Regards,

-scott anderson

New SUAH-WEET...
I figger:

Don and I leaving (Provided Don is going of course) early ~5AM.

Being at your house ~7:30-8AM, Drew's by about 12-noon for Lunch. And provided we make the right turn somewhere we didna see last year, about 8PM or so at Bill's. You know the house on the corner.

Sine we'll have more than 2 people, maybe I will *LET* someone else drive this year. Not anything concrete but ...

Same thing on the way home, Except we will probably leave ~10AM-11AM (from previous experience)

Make sure you all bring an air-mattress. as the floor (as Ben would know) get's a bit hard.

Those were 20oz'ers. Now they are 24oz'ers.

Rather wait it out and discover a HUGE traffic jam. Then do a Ditch Check.

I am going to stop a BIT more proactively.

...you may have to order the cheesteak...but they deliver...and they're good.

Can always kill 2 birds with one stone like I do...and order a cheesesteak hoagie. Cheesesteak, raw onions (I'm wierd...most like cooked), lettuce, tomato, peppers (hot of course) on rolls unlike those available anywhere else in the country.

Damn...now you made me hungry.

Don't tell me when you come back from having one for lunch, and how good it was. And if I want a cheesesteak and a hoagie, I'll order one of each. Isn't that why Amoroso's started making the 6-inch rolls?

to eat dry turkey hoagies.

New Re: Speaking of which...
Boca Bratwursts. These things are DAMNED GOOD. On a bun with sauteed onions and peppers. And relish. Or a dill spear. And mustard.

Oh, and beer.

Regarding breakfast the next day: you've stated that Rita has banned the use of the kitchen. What if I were to prepare a few (or 5) frittatas beforehand for "caloric intake in response to alcoholic withdrawal" the next morning? We can hike them down in a powered cooler that I have.

-scott anderson

"Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson..."
...its on >me< using the kitchen the following morning. As Imric will attest...the tradition started with all those remaining the next day getting custom order breakfast the next morning..resulting in me running over to the store, getting eggs, bacon..and cooking for >another< 2 hours in the am. There was no debate from me on ending that aspect of the tradition. Omlettes amde while hung-over generally never come out right anyway.

Since the ban we've taken to sending someone else for bagels or donuts...and I've ended up firing the grill again around noon.

There would be no issue on reheating a few frittatas. Me standing in the kitchen cracking the eggs for them, however, would run counter to the rules ;-)

Oh...about the beer...there'll be plenty of that.

New About 45 minutes
...no traffic. And there's traffic there these days. It's construction season (as I'm sure you're aware), and they've torn up I-355 between Thorndale and Golf (IE, Woodfield Mall area.) That whole section of the interstate is a muckin' fess. Thankfully I don't have to go up that way very often.

Skokie, you'd point him there....

Sheesh!

Here. Do him and yourself a favor. Go a little farther down Dempster to just before McCormick, and go to El Tipico. Thisis a great little Mexican place, it's definitely worth the trip, and beats snot out of Pita Inn!
