New Bums
The game was theirs to lose, and they lost it.

up 2 - 0 and lose 4 - 2. Man, how does that happen? and on home ice too. I saw it, and I still don't believe it.

Have fun,
Carl Forde
New Next on the menu - Wild Rice Soup + Duck quackers
Then..

Duck soup,
Roast duck,
Peking duck.

Now I have a slight dilemma. I like the Ducks. If the Wild wasn't playing, I'd be cheering for the Ducks. But I'll stick with my home town team.

New Goooooooo Wild!
I'm a fan of what Giguere has done this postseason, but I'm a surrogate Wild fan in place of my Mpls. friend (Wild season-ticket holder) who's been called up to active duty from the reserves. Here's to you, Briggs. Go Wild.

New Wild
My wife asked last night "Wild what?". I know that the name seems strange when it was announced. Now is sortta makes sense. We have:
Wild games.
Wild fans.
Wild parties.
Wild times.
And of course we can "Go Wild"!

btw, I'll use his playoff tickets for him. I live ~4 miles (~7km) from the Xcel center. ;-b

New Re: Wild
MN teams are almost always my second faves. Been pulling for the Wild since they beat the Avalanche.

St. Paul is a like a second hometown to me. I was born there, but we moved to CO when I was a yougin. We'll be up there for a few days in August. I'll be on bizness(at the Xcel center actually :)), but bringing the fam to visit my extended family there.

New Shocked this morning
I didn't watch the game but was shocked this morning when I heard. Brutal. Up 3-1 and losing the series, at home no less! It looks like the finals is going to be bloody boring. I remember when Jersey first one the Cup back in 1995. Teams started to do the neutral zone trap and the regular season turned into a complete snorefest. I hope this doesn't start the trend again. The only reason why I'm still going to watch the finals is due to it being broadcasted in HD.

Go Senators. No I'm not happy about that but they're the only Canadian team left.

Also, it's nice to see Darby Hendrickson score some important goals. He used to be on the Leafs several years back and was lost I think to either an expansion or waiver draft.

New I'll put in a call to the Wild.
and tell them to spot the Ducks 3 games, just to keep it interesting for your. ;-b

I did watch the game last night. First time in a long time, as I am not a profession, hockey fan. Prefer the High School games. Not a fan of "Boxing on ice". I was surprised, little fighting, just good hockey...

New Not so much fighting anymore
It's more real hockey than boxing on ice, these days. Early 90's, IIRC, they really started cracking down on the fighting. I still would prefer to see more of it (though not as much as there used to be), but I will admit that the game has improved because of its absence.

New Yeah it's down quite a bit
Notice there's no bench clearing brawls anymore unlike some other sport *cough*baseball*cough*. I've never bought into the argument that Americans don't like hockey because there's fighting in it. Hogwash. Aside from the original four American markets and the original expansion markets, there isn't much interest because there is no natural ice there. No skating, no hockey. Baseball, football and basketball can be played anywhere and they've been in the American conscious for much longer than hockey, again excluding the limited original four markets.

Eliminating fighting means that the stick-work will go up. That's classic in American college and European hockey. That's where players get hurt. Aside from bruises and the odd cut, you never see players get hurt from fighting. Now of course, as in anything, there is a limit on how much fighting there should be. Too much and it takes away from the game. Another thing that should be cracked down on severly is the showy bullshit stuff after fights some players do. The refs should tack on an extra two minutes on the five minute penalty and give the other team a powerplay. That'll cut that shit down.

Watching hockey for "hockey" was like watch a porn movie for the plot. The hockey was a transition from fight to fight... the porn "plot" was an excuse to switch sex scenes.

I, for one, quit watching professional hockey because of the fighting. And, now that I've seen that it's been toned down, returned to hockey, I may start watching it again.

I do agree with your lack of ice, lack of interest. We have lots of ice here (usually). And was hard to see the No Stars move to Dallas (Because of Debbie?). Dallas and hockey? California and hockey? Let's move the games outside on natural ice, and get the interest back. Of course there goes the money...
