Welcome to IWETHEY!

New I would hope not
a Google competitor from MS would have to have a way of guiding the user there first or it would not work
If I put 'google.com' in the address field, it damn well better not guide me somewhere else. Thank you for clarifying what I suspected: you are suggesting that Microsoft ought to start hijacking traffic and transparently redirecting people to their own properties, regardless of what the user actually wants.

New Oh, but you'll like Boodle . .
. . the user experience is so much "richer" - and you'll appreciate it poping up automatically every time it thinks you want to find something, just like Clippy.

Remember, if you can think it - Microsoft has already thought of it.

New Or that Purple Groilla, "Bonzi Buddy"
Using the MS Actors control, the "Bonzi Buddy" can help you search web sites, etc. That purple gorilla is about as annoying as the paper-clip. Almost the same thing. My father somehow got it, and I had to uninstall it for him. Some email he got told him to click on a link, which he did, and it went and installed it for him.

New Remember the MSN search for Yahoo?
If you entered "Yahoo" in MSN's search bar, (or IE for that matter) you got your results, along with a popup letting you know how great MSN search was.

I don't think they still do that, but I wouldn't know - I don't use it. ;)
There are 11 types of people: those who know binary, those that don't, and those that think they do but don't.
New Re: I would hope not
I wasn't referring to hijacking traffic
I also am not privy to MS plans
what I meant was that they would need something to 'make' the user start the search from the desktop and not the browser
(there are such features already but basically no one uses them)
