New Roxio appears to have bought out Adaptec, since V4
Though Adaptec EZ CD Creator 4 seems just as ept - IF one's older CD/RW is on the list (of the full or OEM version).

Believe that Roxio had a number of glitches, necessitating fixes beyond 5.1 - and there were rumours of both M$ Media Player and Real Player versions of recent vintage nuking a Roxio install. Possibly some 5.x version now has corrected that.

Point - EZ V4 didn't require IE, and Roxio V 5.0x doesn't. I'm using Roxio and Moz 1.01 w/ no interaction discernible. (And I don't play with Real or M$ players any more, as they appear to have both become vehicles for spy- and crash- ware; some new mini-monopoly battle before our very eyes.)

The "floppy on an open CD" ap works fine ('Direct CD').

FWIW,

Ashton

New Thanks.
Yes, I meant to mention some or most of that, but posted quite before I did. Just a point... The box for the last version of EasyCD Creator by Adaptec stated that IE was required, though quite why they needed to add that when it was for Windows 98 I really don't know. It was at that point I wasn't sure I trusted said package anymore.

Also, Karsten, there's another package an ex-colleague of mine loved called CDRWin by [link|http://www.goldenhawk.com/|GoldenHawk Technology] which is also generally well regarded. A free demo is available; but payment is expected in the end.

Wade.

Microsoft are clearly boiling the frogs.

New Roxio was an Adaptec spinoff
Adaptec spun off their CD creation software during the hight of the .com boom to make Roxio. It was easy money until reality set in for the stock market.
