Also included is a recently declassified report warning of the danger of a Soviet attack on China, written for Henry Kissinger by the influential China watcher Allen S. Whiting. (And yes, that includes what I think the "real reason" was below). I do not accept the premise that you overcome an adversary by becoming just like him.
