My PC screen has a darkish beige background (Luffa) and is not too bright because it's always in a fairly dim room, and I keep it far enough away so I can't reach out and touch it without turning my shoulder. It doesn't need turning down at night. I avoid all those portable devices you have to have up close - no, I do not have an iPad, Android anything or smart phone. My non-smart cell phone gets used maybe twice a month.

If I'm not quite ready for sleep when I want to be, I play OS/2 solitaire (much better than the Windows version - and also with the Luffa background) to 1000 points - never higher. This puts my brain at rest and sleep will come instantly I hit the bed.
