Netflix has its own CDN with servers at the ISP just like Google. Yet they were just held for ransom by both Comcast and Verizon. Maybe it does take your own fiber net to sidestep the shakedown, but Google is the only one with deep enough pockets to do that.

It will be interesting to see if Netflix now goes to ISP dependent tiered pricing.
