New Giving Locate32 a shot.
I've started using a few of the Windows 7 gadgets (Yahoo's/Konfabulator's seem too flaky) to replace the Google Desktop gadgets. For desktop searching, I'm giving Locate32 a shot - I've just installed it.

http://www.locate32.net/ (using the latest "daily" from July).

(Via this review from October - http://www.techsuppo...earch-utility.htm - and reading about the cited "tweaks" to Winders 7 Search.)

Unfortunately, it seems to have been orphaned after September. http://locate32.net/...pic.php?f=8&t=689 Oh well.

New Back to Google Desktop.
My issues with GD seem to have been due to my Samsung 640 GB drive acting flaky. After replacing the drive with a 750 GB Seagate hybrid over the weekend (see #55261 - http://iwt.mikevital....iwt?postid=55261 ), I reinstalled GDS yesterday and its continuing to index without issues.

But I somehow lost the ability to use Calendar plugin (just as a desktop calendar - I don't have anything in the cloud). I found this version which seems to work fine: http://www.noisymime...dex.html#download

I get to turn off the Winders 7 gadgets now. Yay!
