Welcome to IWETHEY!

New DST/PST time
Guess it isn't practical to alter everyone's prefs.. when the clock changes for everybody (?)

So consider this a little note of cheer - fix yer posts, folks or risk uncertainty about who first said that Dubya wasn't wearing clothes in his last speech.

Ashton Chronos
New Heh, no, went over this in October IIRC

New Thought maybe tweaked since: er you're ~ 8 minutes fast, BTW
New Not according to the atomic clock...

New Just checked it against my Rb standard: 2 sec = web overhead
What I saw was, a listed time on main page/LRPD for most recent post, that was ~8 min ahead! of my also pretty accurate clock. [??] Anyway, seems we're both on NIST time - not that anyone cares a lot, even if it were a few minutes bonkers..

Ashton
New apt-get install ntpdate :-)

New Actually, that's...
...apt-get install ntp.

ntpdate only runs once (usually at boot, to sync the clock).

...OK, raise your hands (and back away from the keyboard slowly) if you thought I was going to bait Peter with an "rpm -Uvh foo" ;-)

What part of "gestalt" don't you understand?

Keep software free.     Oppose the CBDTPA.     Kill S.2048 dead.

New Re: Actually, that's...
rpm -Uvh [link|http://www.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/redhat-7.2-en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/ntp-4.1.0-4.i386.rpm|http://www.mirror.a...0-4.i386.rpm]

and you better pray you got the [link|http://www.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/redhat-7.2-en/os/i386/RedHat/RPMS/ntp-4.1.0-4.i386.rpm%5Bpeek%5D|deps] installed :)

(BTW, the UK Mirror Service absolutely rocks and it's quick, even for you colonials)

I've got ntpdate hooked up on an hourly cron job. Simpler than futzing around with a full ntp server.

New *Please* make those into links?
One long URL makes the whole thread unreadable...

Thanks,
Ben

New Re: *Please* make those into links?
It's not a link.

That's the command line you could use to download and install the RPM file from that particular server.

New It is still too long

New As much as I hate to say it, one point to Microsoft:
Infernal Exploiter breaks the line on one of the many hyphens in it.

(Too bad not all over-long lines people post here are guaranteed to have hyphens in tem.)

Of course, who am I to point fingers? I'm in the "Information Technology" business, prima facia evidence that there's bats in the bell tower.

New Not everyone.
We Aussies (that are present - not all states honour DST) put our clocks back an hour last week. :-)

Wade, who will now go and alter his own preferences.
