Take more then 5-10 years

Even if the Chinese do well at this it is going to take them longer then 10 years to pass India. India has been trying to become a world leader in software since the 70's and it took them well into the 90's to cement their posistion.

China is starting off in a worse position and faces more competition. There are a lot of significant barriers that China will face that other countries don't.

I would say that it will take them 5 to 10 years to get a foothold in this market. And that is assuming that no politcal problem that cuts off open trade comes along.
