New Dont feel bad
My brain also thinks in literal and linear terms. As an undergrad, I was in an acclerated math and science program and they made us take a few courses in literature to round us out. As I recall, the classes were called "Third Cultural Rhetoric". I dont even know what that means. I hated them. We had to read great works of literature (which I appreciated and enjoyed) and interpret the metaphores and meta-messages (which I hated and couldnt do). I couldnt get beneath the surface of these great works - which sometimes happens when I read Ashton's posts. When I have the time and energy to decipher them I appreciate the depth and cleverness of Ash. When I dont, I say "Oh bother" and move along.
New Thanks
Matthew Greet

Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

New Same here
There are times when I have enough time to grab the giant dictionary, or search the online one and decipher what Ashton has written. And those times I am truly rewarded, so I have to agree there.

There are other times when I'm so busy, that I don't have the time right then. So I either make a mental note to return to it later when I do, or I decide it's obviously not that serious for me to decipher. But I do appreciate Ashton's style, especially when I have time to truly understand it.

Last night I didn't have time to decipher the above said post. Maybe later today, but right now I'm taking a brief break from something important to post a few things.

So don't feel bad if you don't get Ashton-Speak, it is after all, an art. :)

And suddenly it occurred to me where these guys had learned their tactics. They'd seen Beau Geste, and were copying the Foreign Legionaires at Fort Zinderneuf.
