Is the CD primary or secondary?
Are there other CDs on the cable? HDD?
I've had odd behaviour like that bite me before.

All master and nothing else on the cable.
Tried it on the primary and secondary controller in a couple cases. With and without hard disks in the machines. No joy.

OK - I'm tapped.
That's fixed it before for me.
Not just Linux bootables, either. W2k, too.
Bleah. Sorry... I dunno.

Yeah, I'm bringing down the March 24th image . . .
. . and going to see if that boots. Even if it does, I'll wait for a new version because it's so old it may be replaced before I can download the rest. I need 1,2,3 and 13 all to match for compiling kernels.

Try burning them on a slower speed maybe?
Don't know what else to suggest. HTH.
Cheers, Scott.

Good idea, but even 16x didn't work any better.
However, the 3-24 iso works in everything without fail. So the question is, how come the 3-14 iso work in the one machine and won't work in any other - even with a fresh burn and even burned at 16x?
Now I'll wait for a new build since the current one or I'll probably have 3 disks of the set of 4 I need when they replace the set.

Dunno. But I always burn stuff at 8x after having troubles.
I haven't done exhaustive testing the way you have, but I have come across some CD drives that haven't liked disks burned at higher speeds that worked fine when the disk was burned at 8x. IIRC, it was often a problem with disks burned using an older version of EzCDCreator.
I read once that the laser power and/or wavelength changed in moving from ~ 8x to higher speeds, but I haven't seen anything like that in a search just now.
Hope you get it resolved - whatever the problem is. I suspect there's a reason for the difference and it's not just digital goblins. :-)
Cheers, Scott.

The ones that worked were burned at 32x and . . .
. . probably would have worked just as well at 52x.
