Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Resolution
The original motherboard was a Matsonic MS8177C with the VIA KT600 chipset. I got another board, an ASUS A7V8X-X with VIA KT400 chipset (no SATA, but I don't need that) and Sarge loaded the RAID driver with only a hesitation at 47%.

New Ahhh, waiting for the card initialization.
evidently the KT600 chipset has more issues than I thought.

I used to have a KT600, I couldn't take it anymore. I went to the KT880 (I'm pretty sure) and many things just work on it. Versus the KT600 needing everything in the BIOS *just* so, in order to work with Windows *OR* Linux. I guess I might have to look at getting away from VIA, even though I really do like the chipset.

No matter how much Microsoft supporters whine about how Linux and other operating systems have just as many bugs as their operating systems do, the bottom line is that the serious, gut-wrenching problems happen on Windows, not on Linux, not on Mac OS. -- [link|http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1622086,00.asp|source]
