Welcome to IWETHEY!

New No eyebrows raised here
I've considered it myself. Right now I'm getting ready for a BIG transition(1), so I'll have to wait for it to settle down.

(1) Getting ready to retire from the Air Force, Move to Texas, and get my first civilian job since working at Pizza Hut as a kid (22 years ago)

New You have a lot of balls in the air
The ladies can wait.
This Eharmony isnt too bad, though. You only get matched up with people you're compatable with (you complete an extensive personality profile) and they are the only people who have access to your info. So your info isnt out there for all the world to see, which I like. They also have it set up so you only communicate through the site. You can "close" someone at any time and when you do, they have no way to contact you. I like all the safety features. But it's kind of pricey- $50/month. I've gotten a dozen matches so far- all engineers or computer guys. Go figure. And one guy who had half his body paralyzed because he just had a stroke. I passed on him.
It's like, "How much more black could this be?", and the answer is none. None more black.
New Just hope I can catch them all
Hoping I can slip into a good Database Architect I or Database Analysis I job off the bat. I could possibly start working a new job within my last two months of terminal leave and get 2 full paychecks during that time. After I'm officially retired, I'll only be netting about $1,300 a month in retirement pay; so I really need to be working by then. If nothing else, I'll take a job at Best Buy or Fry's till I can get a better one.

New Yes, but...
First off I don't like cold. I'm moving to TX for the warm, even hot weather, the warm water diving, and the lack of snow packed and icy roads.

I do have 5 years of Oracle experience, but that was in Oracle 6/7. This is why I'm looking at entry level positions for now. I'll need to get caught up on Oracle 10. Overall though, I have 18 years of Database management experience on everything from MS Access (yeah, I know, not a real database, but I have plenty of experience designing complex database programs using VBA), through proprietary AF databases (Maintenance Management Information Control System (MMICS) and Core Automated Maintenance System (CAMS)), Unisys (primarily FOCUS report writer) to Oracle (with experience writing Pro C based programs and converting from Pro Fortran programs)

New Snow?
Haven't seen any all winter.

I do understand the fear of cold - I'm not digging it much myself.

New You're also living in a boat.
New Which is only one step up from
livin in a van down by the river!

Seriously, anyplace that requires long sleeves outdoors is too cold.

That's the tempurature I'm looking for as a cold winter day :)

New Not a fear of the cold
But having been in North Dakota, I'm sick of it. And I need to be able to scuba dive without a drysuit (preferrably in swimsuit and t-shirt - I was spoiled in Guam)
