Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Price, my ass.
(Note - this isn't for my own internet service, this is for a bunch of people I support at work who work from home and had preexisting Earthlink contracts)

Earthlink and QWest/MSN use PPPoE for their connections.

Speakeasy doesn't.

They both use the same lines.

Go figure.
"Here at Ortillery Command we have at our disposal hundred megawatt laser beams, mach 20 titanium rods and guided thermonuclear bombs. Some people say we think that we're God. We're not God. We just borrowed his 'SMITE' button for our fire control system."
New They must be providing a router, then.
Or are the other two doing it for a larf?

Use P2P for legitimate purposes!
New Considering QWest offers an "upscale" offering...
...that uses the same equipment, but no PPPoE, ("Always on internet!") it appears to be some kind of market segmentation thing.

New Qwest line with local ISP
No PPPoE here. Qwest provided modem/router, which I have configured just as a bridge. My inlaws have Qwest/MSN with the same modem/router..but it uses PPPoE. I do my routing and firewalling with a linux box (IPCop) as I have a /29 network from my ISP.
