I'm in the 10%
Finally decided to plug in some speakers. No joy. Mixer is up. Have tried alsaconf, and dpkg-reconfigure alsa-base. Nothing.

Make sure you
Don't have ANY legacy OSS modules installed.
OSS-emulation modules are fine.

Does that include gstreamer-oss and alsa-oss?
They're the only packages I have installed that mention oss. Time to check the modules. I did what you told me back [link|/forums/render/content/show?contentid=181203|here], and lsmod now shows: snd_pcm_oss 54312 1\nsnd_mixer_oss 19904 2 snd_pcm_oss
So should I remove everything that references oss?

Nope...
But make sure you have everything hooked up properly...
I know that many times *I* forget to even turn ON the speakers.

You're funny
Greg is oh-so-subtlely prodding me to fess up to what I did. Instead, I'll describe my setup. See how far in you get before you realize what I did.
I have a set of speakers that can be used either with an amplified input, or with line-in and on-board amplification. I'm using line-in, and ... ummm ... forgot to turn on the on-board amplification.

Oh, I'm sorry...
I thought I was just being "helpful". You know all the suggestions help.
