Haiku for breakfast?
So it's my birthday today, and as such it's my turn to bring the donuts and bagels in. To announce that they were in the kitchen, I sent around some breakfast haiku poems titled "Haiku for breakfast?" \nAnticipation\nSun on the coffee machine\nFood in the kitchen.\n\nGolden wheat is cut\nThe oven roars in fury\nA bagel arrives.\n\nSugar cane reaches\nSky denied the plants are cut\nDonuts need frosting.\n\nCows moo to be milked\nFarmers once made cheese by hand\nNow they have machines.\n\nFrom truck to your mouth\nYummy snack hides under glaze\nHark now, Krispy Kreme!\n\nScott's pen on paper\nBonddesk quails in haiku dread\nHe is no poet.\n One of the programmers from India (citizen here now, not H1B) just came by to ask me if haiku was a kind of donut... I'm not sure she believed my explanation that it's a type of Japanese poetry... And one of the networking guys is having an email haiku war with me: \nHim:\n Detection online\n We guard network carefully\n Access is denied\n\nMe:\n Root kits do abound\n Tomb of the unknown program\n Is not detected.\n\nHim:\n Vulnerable, yes\n Through software you can get in\n This is the sad truth\n\nMe:\n Blame it on software\n For we all know the real truth\n Network gates beckon.\n\nHim:\n Cannot be Network\n Golden stallions do they ride\n Women lust for them\n\nMe:\n Mules of delusion\n Their road apples adorn shoes\n Righteous coders sneer.\n

Weird. It's my wife's birthday today too!
What's that birthday probability thing again? Ah yes, if you get more than [link|http://www.maa.org/mathland/mathtrek_11_23_98.html|23] random people together, the odds are better than 50:50 that two will have the same birthday.
Fun times there, eh? :-)
[edit] Oh, and Happy Birthday too!
Cheers, Scott.

Was everybody but me born in April????
I know the answer...but it sure seems like it today. --- Its my birthday!!
No its MY birthday.
Cool...its my wife's birthday too!
So wierd...its >my< wifes birthday.
But wait, its my birthday too, how wierd is that?
THEN...I go to the cafeteria to pick up a sandwich...and the woman running the register says.."Guess what...its my birthday!".
Do you think she thought it was rude that I grabbed my hair, began pulling...and ran screaming from the room??? ---
Happy Birthday Todd. Tell the wife hello...and I'll be sending a finger puppet for the child soon ;-)
