New Not free anymore
we've been slowly losing our rights over the years, so slow that most have not noticed. Fair Use was weasled out of the new copyright act, as one example. The MegaCorps have basically taken over, and taken control of politicians who run the government, so they have had laws passed in their favor that also take away rights from the citizens.

Not much you can do about it, the suits run the country now.

New The suits have always run the country
the difference is that they used to be concerned with the advancement of the welfare of the common man.

Now they just care about the advancement of their own bank accounts.

Wanna revolt? VOTE OUT EVERY INCUMBENT YOU CAN. Its time for some fresh meat.

New As long as people keep voting . .
. . for lawyers, it isn't going to make a bit of difference.

New Dang that was depressing.
Worse 'cuz it's true.

  • Even though everyone is out to get you, it doesn't matter unless you let them win.
New Me for prez in 2008.
My stump:

I'm not a lawyer.
I promise to turn the U.S. upside down.
Ben Tilly will be appointed Secretary of State. :)
After 9/11, Bush made two statements:
1. "Terrorists hate America because America is a land of freedom and opportunity."
2. "We intend to attack the root causes of terrorism."

Sounds like everything is going according to plan.
New How are you going to turn the US upside down?
You gonna implement the Constitution?

New Also introduce "flat" income tax...
Tax=income-Cost of Living for region.

I figure having Ben Tilly in charge of Sec of State would be enough in and of itself in any case...

New And....
Marlowe for Homeland security.
Cybermace5 for SecDef.

Press Sec - Ashton
AG - Karsten
SecEd - Dr. L :)

I'll be VP, so I can sit around and do nothing.

Why, you could fill the entire cabinet just from this group of ours...

Why wait 'til 2008?
IWETHEY will even the score in 2004!

New Nah.. wanna be in charge o' the Repo Dungeons
New Even better (man, I can't stop giggling now)
I just imagined a world in which Ashton is a speech writer for Bush.
===

Implicitly condoning stupidity since 2001.
New Yabut..
Either Dubya learns gooder Inglish and thereby seems more smarter

or

Ashton would have to restrict his prose to only two sillyble words.

New *First Press Release*
Uhh Ladies and Gentle- men.

It's umm.. Today I have a most ... unpleasant duty. I mean, this is gonna be hard but, you know - this Administration will do our duty.

Last night, approx 2AM, the President arose for a snack - the usual, some Ho- Hos and warm Texas ersatz-beer: a Coors, most often. :-)

Unfortunately for us all, a well-wisher had sent a metric ton of Tasty Texas-size Pretzels to our *sob* .. Falle- :/

Er.. to Our Leader, knowing how much he relishes haut-? ^h^h Hot Kwiseen. :(

My fellow Americans, at 2:25 AM, the President suffered an es-oph-a ge --? He choked to death, all alone in the Oval Office. No one there to help, on Pretzel-Watch.. No one at all .... ... .. .

*sob*
*sobbing*

Question!
Question!
New Re: *First Press Release*
You know, I'd been toying recently with the notion of mailing a bag of pRetzels to the pResident--the idea being to send the clear message of "I wish you were dirtnapping" without actually saying that, which gets you unpleasant interviews at home and the workplace with the new Department of Homeland Security-based (and therefore the surlier for having their Civil Service protections withdrawn) USSS--but it occurred to me that in the present climate it would be taken not merely as a threat but as an actual attempt on the twit's worthless life. Cravenly, fearing prosecution for thoughtcrime, I set the undertaking aside.

cordially,
"Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist."
New Well, that platform got my vote! :-)

New Believe me I have
but I am not the only one voting. Too many people are easily fooled by campaign promises and slick advertisements.

Ah, well, Norman--not everyone's grasp of the major issues of the day can be as sophisticated as yours.

cordially,
"Die Welt ist alles, was der Fall ist."
New You SURE you aren't the only one?
Heck - with voter apathy the way it is, every active voter's opinion is already worth far more than 'Joe six-pack's'.

After Florida and the last election, we'll prolly see fewer voters. A number of my friends just shrugged and said 'see? Our votes don't matter' or the equivalent (the fact that they said crap like this KNOWING they'd get an earful from me shows the depth of this belief).

Who knows - if we don't get a 'fixed' election, the weight of your vote may be higer than you imagine...

New Maybe we need to get more voters active?
More voters who gave up, we should try and convince them to take a more active role in the voting.

I used to be an election judge, we usually got a low voter turnout unless it was a Presidential election. Easy enough job, but I'd only work during an election, which only happens once every few months.

New You. Just. DO. That.
New I'm trying to convince anyone I can
to vote. When the don't vote, they let other people make the decisions for them.

Just a simple visit to the public library is all it takes to become a registered voter again. Just fill out the form and mail it in, and then go vote when the next election comes up.

New Anytime
I hear someone complain about political / social / legal issues, I ask if they are an active voter. If not, I tell them they have no right at all to complain. It's a good start to a conversation on the importance of voting.

New Nah, we should just register them and vote FOR them
It'll save all that tedious discussing and convincing.
