New Not in on the scam

I was in product support in IBM A/P & OS/2 Warp was one of our babies, I had been in contact with & supporting Dave Whittle & Dave Barnes (to a much lesser extent).

I had been attempting to back them up in Canopus, under the propaganda & abuse tirade they were under at the time.

Dave Whittle either did or was close to an emotional breakdown. I know his manager told him to go take a month or more leave at the tail end of the affair.

Microsoft also nailed William Zachmann later, had him fired as technical editor from one of the larger PC magazines - that was lousey because he was always super careful at how he handled MS & what he said about them, but for that job, it wan't enough.

Cheers

Doug
(I was also going to be the country product manager for Workplace OS but as well know Lou G pulled the plug.)

New Sorry, when I say "in on" I was saying
"you were there". I heard it was really nasty.

It's still going on, though at this point I think it's more of a skunkworks than actual policy like it was for Barkto.

If you're interested, you should talk to Mark at Orion Solutions (Australian distributor); I'm sure you could talk him into spinning you an assessment version of eComStation. We're very close to release of 1.1, and I think you'll find the work we've done to be pretty nice.

New Nasty <g> It was the most vicious thing I ever experienced

outside of physical combat.

It always gets ugly when people who have hidden agendas, false ids and apparently no scruples about how & what they want to achieve, invade ordinary people going about their normal participation in places like canopus was.

Barkto left me with a very 'bent' attitude to Microsoft and to their tactics. It didn't help that they kept refining the practices & expanding their targets. (Java & that infamous Gates remark 'cut off their air supply', then how they sucessfully out manouvered a disctrict court judge (Jackson) over Win98 integration).

Cheers

Doug
