Iraqis seem to think that we're invading their country, and should be resisted by any means. FWIW, I think the rules of engagement are not really the issue; I think that perhaps bad training is really the issue. (No rap on Schwarzie; I enjoy his movies. I just don't think they have any relation to reality. See "The Last Action Hero" for Schwarz's definitive statement on that issue.) To translate the question... "what do you think the Iraqi soldier is going to do... stand there and wave at you while lighting his, his buddy's and his friend's cigarettes? Or does he want to live so he can go home to his wife and children when it's all over?" There's a lot of stupid thinking going on, and US media is encouraging that thinking.
