What I did intimate, Dictatorships are typically Cruel and unusual punishmnet for most subject of it.

Now, being the Neighborhood "constable" is what everyone now uses us for. Why not then should we "proactively" deal with proven problems before they become a problem that affects us.

A standing Army did wonders for 50 years... as either side can say. We just had and still have more stamina.

Do we really need to go down the post-cold war discussion again?

The Americans have been lied to over and over again - they now believe that Sodamn was directly responsible for 9/11 - and that gives them the moral right for this war. We are supporting a war for an imaginary reason planted in our heads by state-sponsored propaganda organs. There is no difference even in principle with the Wehrmacht blasting into Poland looking for Lebensraum, when the German people had been convinced it was to "protect German borders from Communists and anarchists."

Jefferson's argument against a large standing army is being made by Bush - that a mentally unstable man would wield it to his own ends.
