Where's Waldo? Where's Marlowe?
Unlike some of you, I've never taken him for a testosterone-crazed high school senior: his posts occasionally (albeit rarely) betray a level of sophistication incommensurate with the sub-barbarism of today's publicly-educated youth. On the other hand he sometimes does something utterly wacky along the lines of his recent meditation on Tony Blair's political future...where could that be coming from? I do not, of course, take seriously his occasional intimations that he's engaged (and vaguely at physical risk of counterattack) in the "war on terrorism" -- our "special ops" folks are not, I pray, clueless enough to post anything as incriminatingly ignorant as the Blair post...unless this is subtle disinformation...wheels within wheels...oh, dear...

Our dear Marlowe codes realtime OS stuff
somewhere, presumably where Dick Cheney disappears to now and again. On background he appears to have the same upbringing as Dennis Leary so is a tad jaded. He doesnt travel well and if he does tends to stay in comfort zones that make a lot of our cities resemble one another except for the weather. Like all reasonably educated people he has extremely wide gaps in areas he doesnt spend time studying. I have often thought he has the sophistication of a public school history teacher but Imric hits me when I say that. thanx, bill

Wouldn't that be "uneducated"?
Like all reasonably educated people he has extremely wide gaps in areas he doesnt spend time studying. Fascinating. And the same can be said about the most ignorant, inbred bigot. And here I always thought that the difference was that someone who WAS educated would know what subjects they did NOT know and refrain from making idiotic comments on such. Imagine my surprise.

That's cute. You're trying to think.
From boxley, part 1: [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=86103|Well you and I consider ourselves educated and that has never stopped us from making commeents has it? :-)]
-and-
From boxley, part 2: [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=86111|I "know" it hasnt stopped you.]Hmmm, the word "know" in quotation marks.
Go ahead. Post a link (you do know what a link is, don't you) to my post that substantiates your claim.
Go ahead.
Like I said in the beginning of this thread, your criteria for Marlowe being "educated" would equally apply to any idiotic, inbred bigot.
My criteria would not.
But, go ahead, post a link.

And once again, you prove my point.
This discussion opened with you claiming that: "Like all reasonably educated people he has extremely wide gaps in areas he doesnt spend time studying."
I pointed out that such would be the case even for people who aren't "reasonably educated".
You decided not to pursue that avenue and rather chose to try the ad hominem approach.
Since we've been through a few posts without you supporting your original statement, I'm going to claim victory on that.

Your "conversation" is as bad as your debate.
So, you admit that you were wrong about someone's lack of knowledge indicating that they're educated?

Aw, you're still sore about that?
Face it, already. The left is in deep shit everywhere. And it's their own damn fault. Blair senses this. The rest are in denial.
And if switching parties was good enough for Churchill, it's good enough for Blair. Leaders transcend parties.

Re: Aw, you're still sore about that?
Churchill didn't come out of the political wilderness for thirty years. You going to wait that long?
As for whose in denial... well, all I can say is wait and see. I suspect that if the US (and their tiny "Coalition of the Willing"... most of whom won't actually be sending troops) just goes on in there despite the UN and the opinion of The Rest Of The World the US is going to be very surprised at what happens afterwards.
Nobody outside of the rarefied circles of Washington likes the idea of regime change at the whim of the US very much. I don't, that's for sure.

Re: Aw, you're still sore about that?
("this" being Marlowe's post #84457) Not sore at all; never was--just still agog at the almost superhuman level of parochialism you displayed in your "analysis" of Blair's prospects. Interesting to see that you're still sticking to your squirtguns, though. A lesser man might have contented himself with hoping the lapse would be forgotten rather than persisting in it.
