Welcome to IWETHEY!

New The nice thing about H&R
is that for an extra 26$, you can buy a guarantee that if they screw up your taxes, they'll have to deal with the IRS. :)

As far as taxes went this year, it wasn't nearly as painful as I thought it would be. Fortunately, while much of our income was not taxed (due to my unemployment), we didn't make nearly as much as we did last year, so the interest we were paying on our mortgage was a sizable enough deduction to make what we owe manageable.

New for that extra $26 dollars any preparer will
visit the IRS on your behalf. If they are not willing to do so I wouldnt deal with them.

New Fine Print (a.k.a. EULA)
Not for H&R, but for the on-line tax programs. I read a couple of them and found (paraphrased) "If we made a mistake that cost you money, penalties or fines, we will be liable for an amount not to exceed the amount paid by you for our services".

After that I went back to my usual TurboTax (not the on-line version). Taxes filed on Saturday.

New TurboTax has the same disclaimer, non?

New Don't know
I used the CD/downloaded version. At least I was able to print and review my forms before sending them.

Also, I've used TurboTax since Version 2 or 3, so I'm very comfortable with it. YMMV.

New My point being:
There's no more protection in using a CD-based version than the online versions...
