Microsoft's price has fallen sharply this year.


It is not yet down to last October's lows though.

New Geez, I got fooled by the oldest trick...
Look at the scale. It doesn't go to 0. Therefore movements seem far, far larger than they are.

These are all the splits:

Splits: 21-Sep-87 [2:1], 16-Apr-90 [2:1], 27-Jun-91 [3:2], 15-Jun-92 [3:2], 23-May-94 [2:1], 9-Dec-96 [2:1], 23-Feb-98 [2:1], 29-Mar-99 [2:1], 18-Feb-03 [2:1]

As you can see Feb 18th was the split date.

New Do note it's a log scale. :-)
Logarithms tend to flatten out excursions.

You're right though that the stock hasn't ended up much higher than it was 5 years ago.

I checked Yahoo and they have the highest market cap of the top companies that I looked at so cnet must not have made the correction for the 2-1 split.
