New For those wondering what 'weather' looks like -
Herewith a [link|http://www.angelfire.com/pa/RSealover/circuit_015.jpg| pic]. Sorry it's 360K, but the panorama may be worth the hassle. (Nikon Coolpix 2500 FWIW)

This of a car somewhere in Penn. For us Calif. types.. Whooo-Eeee. I can feel it since the buried thing is same model as my wheels.

Can barely imagine.. not having a garage, commute on now regularly icy roads (per other direct reports) -- then do it again after one's office incarceration is fulfilled. Salt. RUST. Wash car underside. Wash!? - how? where!

Sorry bout all youse folks in the {{deep freeze}} :(

Ashton
New Mostly looks like
the owner of the car doesn't know how to take care of it in wintertime. Then again, it could just be bad timing.

New Never wash a car until you sell it
when you buy one wax it heavily then never touch it again. Cant oxidise if the oxygen cant get thru the dirt.

New Er wrong.. clear coats: H2O + grime = acids; pinholes, rust
People who drive fancy cars in snow + salt areas DO go to self-carwashes and clean underside. How often == how picky. The smart/rich ones just use a beater in the winter and keep other one in unheated garage till spring.

I hear.

(Retaining new-car shine for long.. is a $B industry; some of the stuff is even rumored to Work)
New have a 1990 van that I bought in 1994
washed it in 1994 once heavy wax, never washed it since, brought it to FL in 2000 still not washed still no rust.

New Underbody carwash in winter time...
...in the North East is a lot of fun. You can't dry it and once it freezes in the wheels, and between moving parts, the car quickly becomes a road hazard. (From experience by someone I know in VT who just bought a new car and was determined not to let winter get a grip on it.)
New Spray trannyfliud on the unserside, nostick, no slick
