New Never ceases to amaze me what people will swallow

this line would gag most folk.

Just can't seem to get it into their heads that Hutus killing Tutsies is acceptable, but Saddam controlling Iraqi oil isn't (so lets accuse him of every imaginable evil & then start a killing war on him and his people, even when the claims against him keep getting exposed as lies).

It seems it has become so ridiculous now that anyone who defends the principles of the United Nations, is attacked as pro Saddam or pro 'Old Europe' whatever that is.

Cheers

Doug
New Defending the principles of the UN???
You're joking...please tell me you're joking.

12 years. Remember that. 12 years.

This entire episode is a lesson in how irrelevent the UN has become. 12 years. Dozens of declarations, mandates, resolutions. All ignored. And now a very large part of the organization would like that to stop...and they are met with resistance at every turn by those with financial interest in the status quo.

It is NOT about those nations defending the principles of the UN...because they would all be on our side if that were the case.

Its about how much money France, Germany, Russia etc...stand to LOSE if Hussein is toppled...because these contries have been so busy violating UN resolution, mandate, declaration in actively negotiating and trading with Iraq.

New Yep.
Instead of trying to deal with a situation in a non-military manner....

despite 12 years without any attacks (unless you count the one fail attack against one single person).....

Iraq has SUDDENLY become an IMMEDIATE threat to the US.

Despite Iraq's complete inability to hit the US.

Despite the complete inability of ANYONE to locate any "Weapons of Mass Destruction" in Iraq's military.

Despite the fact that even Iraq's neighbors do not seem concerned about Iraq's military.

The UN is "irrelevant" because.........

well..........

because we SAY it is.

I view 12 years without a single attack as proof that the UN succeeded in its mission concerning Iraq.

The UN's "mission" towards Iraq is defined by the resolutions. Since Iraq is in violation of those resolutions then the only conclusion you can draw is that their "mission" has been a failure.

New you cant have America killing blacks in africa
its bad form. that is the one continent we could never have a war on. There is a giant silence about it as well. Nobody would feel comfy discussing it. Its our history.
