Meanwhile, the New York Rangers (my favorite team) can't buy their way into first place with the league's highest payroll at $74M. Hell, they haven't even been able to buy themselves into the PLAYOFFS over the last 4 or 5 years. And more than half (16 of 30) teams in the league make the playoffs. After several years of excellent regular season records their playoff runs have been less than spectactular which we here in Toronto take great pleasure in since the Leafs beat them two years in a row. Unless they get lucky this playoff season I have no reason to expect any different result. lister
